Red Carpet Watch: GQ Men of the Year 2012

First off, I can’t discuss all the suits cos most are amazing. Which was expected. So I’m going to include some of my favourite suits dispersed within the winners of Men of the Year 2012.

Winners:

Solo Artist – Tinie Tempah

TV Personality – Damian Lewis

I love the expression of West’s face. It is brilliant. And, you can’t see it here, but West has got a pocket square.

Tanqueray Most Stylish – Dermot O’Leary

Comedian- Sacha Baron Cohen

Entrepreneur – Chris Corbin and Jeremy King

Designers – Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana

But obviously they have amazing suits on. And dates. Both wearing three-piece suits with bow ties but just look how different they are. And perfect for the men wearing them. Style.

Chef – Wolfgang Puck

Writer – Aaron Sorkin

Editor’s Special- James Corden

Alfred Dunhill Cultural Icon – Thomas Heatherwick

Lifetime Achievement – Bradley Wiggins

This isn’t the best suit, but it’s the best suit for Wiggins. It completely works for him. That’s what style is – not necessarily following fashion but following your instincts.

Politician – Boris Johnson

Icon – Robbie Williams

Woman – Lana Del Rey

Forties inspired. I’m in love/heaven.

International Breakthrough – Chris Hemsworth

I couldn’t not include Thor now could I? And a nice touch have a midnight navy blue. Well played Hems.

Outstanding Achievement – Gary Barlow

It’s a three-piece suit. Dapper.

International Man – John Slattery

Actor – Michael Fassbender

Inspiration- Sir Salman Rushdie

Legend – Sir Tom Jones

Team – Team GB Olympians

Then there’s the other suits that I liked:

A three-piece suit with a pocket square. Of course it’s on here.

Beautiful tailoring for the women. Sharp lines can still look feminine. (And her husband is wearing a three-piece suit. I approve.)

Simple but classic and effective. And red. I love red.

And, some horrors (mostly from the women) that I was going to put on but, why ruin the beautiful post with that?

Also, from looking on the GQ website I found this interesting post on The GQ Black Tie Guide. Men – read and learn.
